We recently received a touching card from our past client Daisy. The card is titled “The Oak Tree, A Message of Encouragement”.
“A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away, then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground while other trees fell all around.”
When Daisy retained us she was already in a chapter 13 bankruptcy with another law firm and had fallen behind on her $1300 monthly plan payment. Her payment was high because it included her past due mortgage amount and a large second on the home. Her house was no longer protected by the bankruptcy and was being foreclosed on. Our plan was to get her a loan modification which would save her home and also lower her chapter 13 monthly payment.
Our strategy paid off. We got Daisy a loan modification. We also amended her chapter 13 payment plan to a new monthly payment of $190. That’s a $1100 savings a month! So Daisy now has a mortgage payment and plan payment she can afford. Her large second mortgage will also be stripped.
For us this was a really successful case. We now have the card posted in our office to remind us and our clients to stay strong and hold your ground in the face of adversity. Just like a oak tree stands strong through a mighty storm.
